For Non-Profit Organisations

Our clients are not-for-profit organisations whose primary aim is to help children. If you fit these criteria, and you would like to get a free Web site for your organisation, then we can help!

We realise that this is a fairly broad definition. If you’re not sure whether your organisation qualifies, just ask and we can clarify that for you.

We are based in Perth, Australia, but we’re happy to deal with clients anywhere around the world.

What do we do for you?

Briefly, you get a Web site, with up to 10 pages of text and pictures. It’s up to you to provide the text for the pages, any photos that you would like, and your logo (if you have one).

The Web site is hosted at Blogger.com, which is Google's blogging platform. The home page of the Web site is a blog, which you use to publish regular news and updates about your organisation.

Graphic Design

The Web site we build uses Blogger's templates and themes. Although there is only a limited set of themes, Blogger is very flexible in how you can update it. And of course we'll include your logo, banner and colour scheme in the design.

E-Mail Newsletter

We'll also set up an e-mail newsletter for you, hosted at MailChimp.com. This is free for up to 2,000 subscribers.

Blog

Because we're using Blogger, a blog is included automatically. We recommend you do keep blogging regularly, as a way of keeping your network informed of your organisation's news and updates.

Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)

If your organisation has a Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn presence, we'll link them up to your blog, so that every time you post to your blog, it will automatically appear on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn as well.

What will it cost?

We provide our Web design services free of charge, courtesy of First Step Communications and our team of designers.

You only pay for the domain name registration (which is about $20-50 per year).

If you have over 2,000 subscribers, you'll also have to pay MailChimp for the mailing list.

What do you have to do?

There are some obvious things you have to provide, like your logo, contact information and the material to go on each page.

We also need your commitment. We've had bad experiences in the past with clients who are really enthusiastic at the beginning, but then drag their feet during the process, or sometimes even do nothing with the Web site after it's ready.

We know you're busy, and possibly even supported by volunteers. So the Web site isn't always a high priority. That's fair enough, but we only want to work with people who are committed to their on-line strategy.

So the other requirement is that you must demonstrate that you're actively blogging about your organisation. When we say "actively blogging", we mean at least one blog post every two weeks for the last two months.

If you're not doing this yet, sign up at Blogger and start doing it. You don't need to invest in fancy design and graphics - we'll help you with this later - but we do want to see an active blog.

Yes, this might seem like an arbitrary requirement! But really, if you're not willing to blog regularly, we don't think you'll be willing to do anything else either with your on-line strategy.

This is not negotiable. The only exception is if you can show something equivalent to this - such as publishing an e-mail newsletter as regularly, or setting up a Facebook fan page with lots of followers, etc.

How long does it take?

In our experience, the biggest delay in developing a Web site is getting all the information from the client! So the sooner you can have this ready for us, the better.

After that, we can usually have your Web site ready within two weeks.

What happens after that?

You will have full control of the Web site yourself, so you can update the pages yourself, send newsletters, update blog posts, and so on.

IMPORTANT: This is where the work really starts! We set up the Web site for you, but it's up to you to manage it yourself. If you don't, it will quickly fall out of date and lose its value.

What’s the catch?

There isn’t one.

We’re not doing this to try and “up-sell” you to a paid service, or to get hold of your mailing list, or anything sneaky like that.

We really are about helping organisations like yours, so please trust us.

How do I get started?

Start by filling in the application form.

We’ll get back to you as soon as possible, and we can tell you how soon we can get started on your project.
