For EducatorsPart of what we do is to build Web sites for non-profit organisations. The other part – and equally important to us – is to help new Web designers get real-world experience. At First Step Communications, we know that there’s a huge gulf between the technical aspects of Web design and the business aspects. We have learned that most of our success is due to the way we treat clients, not our technical expertise. Now, through Our Tomorrow, we have an opportunity to help other designers learn the same skills.
Who are we looking for? We're looking for people with graphic design skills and Web design skills, who are looking for work experience with real clients. If you run a Web design, multimedia or IT course, you might have students like this in your course. In fact, work experience might be an integral component of the course. Although we are a well-established company with clients around the world, we have deliberately chosen to remain a small organisation. We don't offer paid placements, and we probably won't be able to offer your students paid employment at any time. There's a small chance we might be able to give them some contract work later, but even that is unlikely.
What sort of work will they do?Briefly, they will be creating small Web sites. Read our page for non-profit organisations to find out more about the specifics. Also read our page for designers to see the benefits that we offer to designers.
If your course has specific requirements that you would like incorporated into the work, please feel free to contact us to discuss them. We’ll do what we can to help.
